Thank you to those of you who brought to our attention that the name of Gary Howard’s article is slightly different on the website. The correct title of the one you should read is: “White Americans in a Multicultural Society: Re-thinking Our Role,” the first article on the page. I believe it is a rewrite of the article we listed in the syllabus. Thanks
I want to welcome you to the Pacific program for 2009. I will keep a list of all your blog addresses here, in two separate lists: MAT/5th Elementary, and MAT/5th Secondary. You will find headings for these lists on the left side of this page. After you create your blog, please send me the following information in an email: your name, your blog address, and tell me if you are elementary or secondary, so I can keep a master list. You will use these blogs for reading responses for the course Learning Communities I. At this time, I do not have any plans for using the blogs for Schools and Society. You can always reach me at: meltzoff@pacificu.edu
I have been visiting blogs this evening and I have found that most of you have been successful in creating your blogs. Also, I have enjoyed your comments and questions about my article. I was inspired by the looks of your blogs, so I changed mine. I have responded to about half of you and will continue to drop in on your blogs througout the week. If you don’t hear from me, don’t worry–I’ll catch you next week.

I look forward to seeing Flex students in Schools and Society on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 9 am.

I am excited to meet all of you new Flex students. This seems like an excellent group. Welcome to our program and thank you for choosing Pacific for your continuing education. I was touched by the rights and responsibilities you listed–I am once again inspired by my students. I look forward to dropping in on your blogs to read your comments about the readings.
